Last year, Clifton College’s Grand Hall, fondly known to the staff and pupils as the Big School Kitchen (BSK), went under the biggest renovation the College has had since it was first built in 1862. Being a Grade II listed building, this vast project had to ensure this precise work was done in the same architectural style as the original structure.
A complete refurbishment of the roof was required with Welsh slates used to match the original style as well as additional stonework restorations were done and extensive works on the accessibility of this old building. These include a new wheelchair accessible lift and a ramp added to one of the building’s entrance doors. A full remodelling and refurbishment of the internal building was done in order to extend the catering facilities, provide more toilets and increase the décor of the building. New and efficient boilers, ventilation equipment and LED lighting were also installed to reduce the energy consumption of the Grand hall.
Amongst the vast other changes, aesthetically all of the tables, chairs, and catering items were also replaced creating a wow factor finish and ready to host our first wedding of the season!
